My Mother did enjoy smoking and this was a classic pose for her.  I remember as a child my brothers and I tried our best to get her to quit.  We would take her cigarettes and hide them from her.  She had Asthma so bad, (probably had empesema - undagnoised).  I can still see her in my minds eye - coughing and having difficulty breathing but still she HAD to have that cigarette.  My brothers and I loved to play cowboys and indians outside in the woods and I remember Mom would call to us from the window to make sure we were OK.  Mom loved to dance and sing and she loved to make Yo - Yo's out of small circles of fabric and sew them together to make pillows.
